Great Days Ahead...

My sweetest girlfriends, let me tell you how beautiful a day can be… Everything is blooming recklessly, the city is flourishing with color. Flowers, trees, window displays… apparel has become more vibrant… the city is alive once again. Oh, hot dog, I love this time of year!! You know what this means, right?? Summer is right around the corner “)

This past weekend was. Aww.Some. It started with a boy’s night out. Lol. Yes, that is not a typo. I was rollin’ with the big guys from MMA… all I can say is, what a great night! When you can still smile and laugh about it days later, you know you really mean it.

After recovering (ha ha ha ha) I had some great girlie time too. Got my hair *did*, started weeding through warm weather clothes, and experimented in my kitchen. Ooh, baking with the girls has been awesome. Did you know, EVERY BAKED GOOD TASTES BETTER WITH A SPLASH OF LIQUEUR IN IT?? True story.

Life just keeps getting better.

Ahh... Spring!!

Hello my lovely girls!! We are barely one week into May and over the past few days I have already taken two road trips, strolled the boardwalk at the beaches, and enjoyed cold beer a patio... *sigh*... spring is here!!

It seems we went from temperatures of -10 to +18 from one day to the next. Yes, quite literally!

I kicked off this month with the first in a lineup of seasonal concerts with my bosom buddy as we headed out of town to see The Lumineers. OMGood Old Fashioned Music... this is what it's all about. The stage was beautiful and the performance was amazing... they sounded incredible!!

I'm also completely addicted to Mumford & Sons. Perhaps I will get to see one of their upcoming shows too.
My second road trip was out of town in the opposite direction. It seems I have been leaving my footprint all over the map lately. I attended a training session with the founders and mentors of my MMA school, Fang Shen Do. What an amazing experience!! Last summer I attended a weekend training camp which was grueling... and I cannot wait to go back again this year :D

And seeing as my skin was exposed to radiant sunshine for the first time in months, I have my first sun burn of the summer. Lol. But I will be a golden brown in no time ;)

The next few days are going to be jam packed, what with work, training and teaching at my school, and other social/eating/drinking/laughing events. Yay!!

Ooh, and what says “Welcome Spring” better than pretty dresses and open toed shoes? Ya, I got some of those too ;)

I Don't Care, I Love It!!

“Today, give a stranger
one of your smiles. It might be the only
sunshine he sees all day.”

My darling girlfriends, the world looks brighter from behind a smile!! Have you ever noticed, everyone looks one hundred times better when they are smiling? They just look more alive… maybe even younger…

And random smiles are absolutely the best, no? I was on the subway the other day and a woman pushed a stroller up beside me. I could feel two little eyes peering at me, and as I glanced inside I received the brightest smile and a squee and a giggle (complete with wiggly fingers and nose). So stinkin' adorable!!

Every morning I pass by a construction site on my way to work and see the same workers, so we have gotten in the habit of saying hello. It’s quite nice actually :) The other morning as I was coming up on the site, I could see that they had started digging and there was zero ground around the area where they normally stand to discuss their plans for the day… just a giant gaping hole. And then up ahead, my eyes suddenly catch movement… a super cute worker I’ve had my eye on is standing on this mountain of dirt, waving this HUGE wave at me, with the biggest and most genuine smile on his face calling out, “Hello!!” and laughing. It caught me so off guard I couldn’t help but crack up too. Admittedly, it totally made my day.

My favorite kinds of people are the ones who smile at me and mean it. When it’s not just their face that is smiling, but also their heart.

Smiles are always started by another smile… so smile like a monkey with a new banana!!

I got this feeling on the summer day when you were gone.
I crashed my car into the bridge. I watched, I let it burn.
I threw your shit into a bag and pushed it down the stairs.
I crashed my car into the bridge.
I don't care, I love it.
I don't care.

Cuz… Ohhh ya!!! I can totally see myself doing those things. lol.

The Trouble With...

“Occasionally he stumbled over the truth,
but hastily picked himself up and hurried on as if
nothing had happened.”

My darling girlfriends… it’s quite sad when you realize that someone was not telling the truth when you thought they were. Big or small, lies are still lies… people who feel it is permissible to tell white lies quickly grow color blind. If someone cannot be truthful about the little things, you can guarantee they will not be truthful when the bigger issues come around.

There is also much sadness in knowing that people who speak the truth think that everyone else is speaking the truth too. It’s sad because these are the people who put themselves out there only to receive deceit in return. And that really stinkin’ sucks. But I suppose these are the lucky people because it takes a certain amount of strength to tell the truth. You only lie when you are afraid.

Some people are not capable of tolerating emotional honesty in communication. Some people would rather defend their dishonesty on the grounds that it might hurt others. They rationalize their words into nobility, and as a result, they settle for superficial relationships. Because really, if you can’t be honest with one another, what do you really have??

The only thing I wonder now is… are they still lying to you if they are telling the same lie to themselves? I suppose it really doesn’t matter. Lying will only get someone so far ahead, once the line has been crossed, there is no going back.
